Escape to a simpler life

Follow the little no-through road to Moor Farm and you’ll find somewhere to slow right down. The Independent called us the perfect digital detox, and we think they had a point. You’ll meet us, Richard and Wendy, along with three generations of the Watts family, and we’ll happily chat all day about regenerative farming and caring for our cattle. That’s why the farm tour is a must! Your tent sits beside the copse, where you can watch the cows grazing on the Severn floodplain below. It’s a lovely spot for a family holiday in Gloucestershire.

Breakfast, with the meadow right outside your door.

The best Featherdown hosts so far

“Richard was welcoming, friendly, chatty and a wonderful host. Pizza Night was great, with homemade pizzas and chocolate dessert. We loved the tent’s location, looking towards the cows at the bottom of the field.”

A blessing for any blended family, group or couple

“Our first holiday as a blended family had all the potential to be disastrous with no Wi-Fi and totally off grid. Hands down, it was the best experience we’ve all had for years. The kids felt free and independent.”

Fantastic break

“Freshly back from a lovely 7 days at Moor Farm. We went as a family of four with our dog. The farm is lovely and our youngest really enjoyed the freedom of going in with the animals, especially the ponies.”

Highlights of your stay at Moor Farm

There’s plenty to fill your days, or you can do nothing at all. Book a slot in our indoor pool when you arrive (it’s open from 17 April to 25 September). Or stay outdoors: build dens, play hide-and-seek, or let the kids loose in the play area in the copse. As the evening draws in, keep an eye out for wild deer while dinner bubbles away on your wood-burning stove, made with goodies from our honesty shop. And on most weekends there’s pizza night: proper homemade pizza and our own cider, the kind you won’t find in any supermarket.

Our little farm shop has all the everyday essentials, plus lots of lovely local food and drink. Just help yourself and pay as you go.

Meet Wendy and Richard

Hello! We’re the Watts family. We live here on the farm, and our sons Matthew and Richard help us run it. Tucked away at the end of our tree-lined drive, it’s a very special place, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

“Going without electricity is our greatest luxury.”

Join the farm tour and we’ll show you how we look after the land and our cattle, the regenerative way.

Close to the Cotswolds

If you fancy a day out, there’s lots nearby. Gloucester is just five miles away, with its beautiful cathedral and Roman history. Stroud, voted the best place to live in England by the Sunday Times in 2021, is about 20 minutes’ drive, and so is Cheltenham, great for shopping or a day at the races. Heading home through the Cotswolds? You might pass Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm, or stop off at Bourton-on-the-Water, often called one of England’s prettiest villages.
